About Brightmelt Habitat
We're a team of retirement planning specialists dedicated to helping people achieve financial security in their later years.
Our Story
Brightmelt Habitat was founded in 2011 by three financial advisers who shared a common frustration with how retirement planning was typically delivered. They had each spent years working for larger financial institutions where sales targets often overshadowed client interests, and where complex products were sold to people who didn't fully understand them.
The decision to establish an independent practice came after witnessing too many clients arrive with poorly constructed pension portfolios, excessive fees, and investment strategies that made little sense for their circumstances. There had to be a better way.
Starting with just a handful of clients and a commitment to transparent, fee-based advice, the practice grew organically through referrals. People appreciated the straightforward approach and the absence of sales pressure. Within three years, the team expanded to include specialist pension transfer advisers and investment managers.
Today, we serve over twelve hundred clients across the UK. Our practice has evolved, but our core principles remain unchanged: listen carefully, explain clearly, and always prioritise the client's long-term interests.

How We Work
We Listen Before We Advise
Every client has a unique story, different priorities, and specific concerns. Some people dream of world travel in retirement. Others want to ensure they can help their grandchildren with education costs. Some worry primarily about outliving their savings, while others focus on leaving an inheritance. We can't provide meaningful advice without understanding what matters to you.
Our initial meetings focus on understanding your goals, not selling products. We ask questions about your retirement vision, your family circumstances, your risk tolerance, and any worries keeping you up at night. Only when we have a complete picture do we begin developing recommendations.
We Explain the Why, Not Just the What
Financial jargon creates unnecessary barriers. When we recommend a course of action, we explain our reasoning in plain language. You'll understand not just what we're suggesting, but why it makes sense for your situation and what alternatives we considered.
We believe informed clients make better decisions. Our job is to provide the knowledge and analysis you need to feel confident about your choices.
We Stay With You
Retirement planning isn't a single event. Your circumstances will change. Markets will fluctuate. Tax rules will evolve. Health considerations may shift your priorities. We provide ongoing support through all these changes, adjusting your strategy as needed and helping you navigate new challenges as they arise.
Many of our clients have worked with us for over a decade. These long-term relationships allow us to provide continuity and consistency that simply isn't possible when you're passed between different advisers every few years.

What We Believe
We believe retirement planning should be accessible to everyone, not just the wealthy. While our clients range from those with modest pension savings to high-net-worth individuals, we apply the same rigorous approach regardless of portfolio size.
We believe in transparency. Our fee structure is straightforward, with no hidden charges or ongoing commissions. You know exactly what you're paying for and why.
We believe independence matters. We're not tied to any product providers or investment platforms. Our recommendations are based solely on what serves your interests, not what generates the highest commission.
We believe in continuous improvement. The financial landscape changes constantly. Regulations evolve, new products emerge, and market conditions shift. Our team commits to ongoing professional development to ensure our advice reflects current best practice.
Above all, we believe retirement should be something to look forward to, not something to fear. Our role is to remove the anxiety and uncertainty that too often accompanies this major life transition.
